Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 September 2026
This is the privacy policy for Flyweight Limited (“Flyweight”, “we”, “us”). We’re an AI engineering and development studio based in South Africa. This page covers the flyweightlimited.com website, the apps and products we operate, and the Meta platforms we use to run those products - including WhatsApp Business messaging.
If you log into one of our apps through Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp, this is the policy that applies. It is Flyweight’s own policy, not Meta’s.
Who is responsible
Flyweight Limited is the responsible party for the personal information described here. We process that information in South Africa, and some of it is processed by companies outside South Africa (including Meta) so that the products can actually run.
Questions, access requests, and deletion requests go to privacy@flyweightlimited.com.
What we collect
It depends on how you use us. Here’s the simple version of what we may hold.
- Website use: the usual server and CDN logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, dates and times). We don’t run advertising cookies on this site.
- Contact details you give us: name, email address, phone number, and the content of the message.
- Account details, if you create an account on a Flyweight product: name, email, phone number, login identifiers, and settings.
- WhatsApp and other Meta messaging: your mobile number, WhatsApp display name, profile picture if it is sent to us, messages and media you send or receive, delivery and read status, and a record that you opted in to hear from the relevant business.
- Meta platform data, if you connect Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp to a Flyweight app: identifiers Meta provides, permissions you grant, and the content needed to operate the feature you turned on. We only process the platform data you actually grant access to.
- Technical data from the apps: device type, app version, crash logs, and similar diagnostics, so we can keep things working.
We don’t scrape extra Facebook or Instagram profile data for fun, and we don’t buy lists of people to message. If a bit of information isn’t needed for the product, we try not to keep it.
How we use it, and why
We use personal information for these purposes:
- To operate the website, apps, and messaging - including sending and receiving WhatsApp messages you (or the business you dealt with) asked for.
- To create and manage accounts, authenticate you, and provide customer support.
- To keep a record of opt-in and opt-out for WhatsApp and similar channels, because we are not allowed to message people without permission.
- To diagnose bugs, secure the services, and prevent abuse.
- To meet the law, including tax, accounting, and information requests we are legally required to answer.
We process this information because you asked us to provide a service, because you opted in to messages, because we have a legitimate interest in running and securing the product, or because the law says we have to. For WhatsApp, we rely on the opt-in you gave the relevant business, plus any consent required where you live.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use Meta platform data to build unrelated advertising profiles. We do not use it for independent surveillance, and we do not share it with random third parties for their own marketing.
WhatsApp and Meta
Flyweight uses Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform (and related Meta developer tools) so our products can send and receive WhatsApp messages. When that happens, Meta also processes the conversation under Meta’s own terms and policies. You should read those as well if you use WhatsApp.
We only message a number on WhatsApp if we, or the business we are operating the product for, have an opt-in that meets WhatsApp’s rules and the law that applies to that person. You can opt out at any time. Reply STOP on WhatsApp, or email privacy@flyweightlimited.com and say you want the messages to stop. We will respect that.
If we process WhatsApp data for another business, we do it to provide that product. That business is usually the one the conversation is with. We still honour deletion and opt-out requests sent to us.
How to ask us to delete your data
Anyone who can access a Flyweight app or has messaged us (including on WhatsApp) can ask us to delete their personal information. This is not limited to people in a particular country.
Here’s how it works.
- Email privacy@flyweightlimited.com with the subject line “Delete my data”.
- Tell us which phone number, email address, or account the request is for, and which product or WhatsApp number you used if you know it.
- We will confirm we have the request, delete the personal information we hold or anonymise it so it is no longer about you, and tell you when that is done. If something has to be kept for a legal reason (for example a tax record), we will say so and lock it down rather than using it for the product.
If you originally signed in with Facebook, you can also remove the app from your Facebook settings. That does not always wipe copies we already hold, so still email us if you want the Flyweight copy gone too.
Your other rights
Depending on where you live, you may also ask us to say what we hold, correct it, restrict how we use it, or object to a particular use. Same address: privacy@flyweightlimited.com. We may need to check it is actually you before we change or hand over a record.
If you are in South Africa and you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Who we share it with
We share personal information only when we need to:
- Meta Platforms, Inc. and its affiliates, for WhatsApp, Facebook Login, and other Meta developer products we have switched on.
- Hosting, email, and infrastructure providers who run the website and apps for us (including Cloudflare for this site).
- Professional advisers, or a buyer, if we ever reorganise the company - still limited to what they need.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
Those companies may store or access information outside South Africa, including in the United States. We only do that where it is needed to provide the service, and we take reasonable steps to keep it protected in line with South African law.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as the account, conversation, or product needs it, and then for a short period in backups. Support and legal records may be kept longer if we have to. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or irreversibly anonymise it.
Children
Our apps and WhatsApp products are not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you think we have, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We use standard technical and organisational measures to protect personal information - access control, encryption in transit, and limiting who inside Flyweight can see a record. No internet service is perfectly secure, and we will say so if we ever have a breach we are required to tell you about.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update this page and the date at the top. The current version is always the one at flyweightlimited.com/privacy.
